Trænerteamet i Esbjerg Energy er fuldkommet med ansættelse af finske Sami Lehtinen som assist- og målmandstræner. 

Med svenske Markus Åkerblom som cheftræner og finske Sami Lehtinen som assistenttræner, bliver det et stærkt nordisk trænerteam, der skal bringe Esbjerg Energy til tops i den kommende sæson.

Den nye assistenttræner har international erfaring fra Tyskland, Island, Sverige og naturligvis Finland.

”Sami har selv spillet hockey på højeste plan og ved, hvad der kræves af professionelle udøvere. Samtidig kommer han med solid erfaring som ungdomstræner, cheftræner, assistenttræner, målmandstræner og landsholdtræner,” fortæller formand Søren Mathiasen. ”Han er yderst dedikeret med en analytisk tilgang, og hans primære fokus er naturligvis at udvikle og træne Esbjerg Energy mandskabet. Men hans tilknytning til ungdoms-ishockey betyder også, at vi forventer et godt samarbejde omkring talentudvikling med EIK og en coaching af vores unge spillere. Et arbejde vi har stort fokus på for at skabe en bæredygtig klub.”

Den sympatiske 55-årige finne ser frem til at blive en del af Energy-familien:

”I am really excited to move to my 4th Nordic country to coach and thankfull for the trust from Markus and the organization. I look forward to working with everyone in Esbjerg Energy and helping the team and the individual players to perform their utmost. 

With a league of 9 professional teams, I don’t see any other goal than championship. But you cannot win a championship in the summer, not in August and not during the regular season. You need to work hard throughout the process during the entire season and progressively create and prepare the chance for us to win at the end of the season. Therefore I am ready to sweat and push myself, and I also expect the same from the players. It is the only way for us to be able to earn the support from the great fans and the success in Metal ligaen.”
